Event styling at Formosa covers elegant updos and refined looks for weddings, formal events and celebrations, customized to complement your vision and leave you feeling confident and ready to shine.
In practice that means we start with your hair as it actually is — its length, its texture, how well it holds a curl, whether it is freshly colored or growing out a balayage. Then we build a look that works with your dress, your veil or hairpiece, and the kind of day you are going to have. A style that photographs beautifully at four in the afternoon and is still holding at eleven at night is a different plan than one built only for the ceremony.

How to get the hair you are picturing
None of this is complicated, but a wedding morning is not the moment to work it out. Here is what actually makes the difference, in the order it tends to come up.
Start with a message
Text us Text Us, or send a booking request online. Four things tell us almost everything we need to know: the date, the type of event, roughly how many people need hair, and whether you want us in the studio or at your venue.
Wedding dates get claimed early, so it is worth asking about yours as soon as you have it — even if nothing else is decided yet.
Book a trial
A trial is a rehearsal for your hair. You get to see the finished look in daylight, in photos, and after a few hours of wear — which is the only honest test of whether a style is right for you.
- Wear a top you can take off without pulling it over your head
- Bring your veil, comb, pins or hairpiece, even if you are unsure about them
- Take your own photos, front and back — hair reads differently on a phone than in a mirror
- Say what you do not like as clearly as what you do
Bring pictures — the right ones
Three or four saved photos are more useful than thirty. The most helpful ones show hair close to your own length and texture, because the same updo sits very differently on fine shoulder-length hair than on thick hair past the shoulder blades.
A photo of your dress — particularly the neckline and the back — is worth as much as the hair inspiration. A high back changes what works. So does a strapless one.
Think about your hair in the days before
Most formal styles hold better on hair that was not washed the same morning. Heavy conditioner, oils and silicone-based products the day of can make pins slip, so go light.
If you are coloring before the event, do it before the trial rather than after. That way the look you approve is the look you will be wearing, and there is time to adjust if the tone lands differently than expected.
Curly and textured hair
Curly hair holds an updo beautifully when it is treated as curly hair rather than fought into submission. Formosa has Ouidad certified stylists, so curl pattern, shrinkage and how your hair actually behaves once it is pinned are part of the plan from the start.
Mention your texture when you first reach out. It changes how we prep, and it changes what a trial needs to test.
The bridal party
Group mornings run on logistics. One point of contact and a simple list — who needs hair, what kind of style, and who has to be finished first for photos — is the difference between a calm morning and a rushed one.
Remote on-site styling is offered, so we can come to you. Raise it in your first message so it gets planned in alongside the date.
Erie weather is part of the plan
A July wedding near the lake is humid and windy; a February one means hats, hoods and dry indoor heat. Both are workable, and both change what we build.
Tell us where your photos are happening. Outdoor lakeside portraits argue for a style that is pinned to survive wind rather than one that only looks right in still air.

Do you style the whole bridal party, or just the bride?
Both. Bride-to-be and bridal party updos are part of what we do, so one person or a full group is fine. Let us know roughly how many people need hair when you first reach out, since that shapes the morning more than anything else.
Can you come to us on the day?
Yes — remote on-site styling is offered, so we can come to you rather than everyone driving to the studio. Bring it up in your first message so it can be planned in with your date.
Do I really need a trial?
Trials are not required, but they are the difference between hoping and knowing. A trial shows you the finished look in daylight, in photographs and after it has been worn for a few hours — and it gives us the chance to adjust before the day rather than during it.
What should I bring to my trial?
Your veil, comb, pins or hairpiece, three or four photos of looks you like, and a photo of your dress if you have one. Wear a top that comes off without pulling over your head, and take your own pictures at the end.
My hair is curly. Can you still do an updo?

Do you do hair for events other than weddings?

Hair accessories placement is part of event styling. Bring the pieces to your trial so the style is built around them rather than adjusted at the last minute.
