How we handle your details
Plain English, no small print. Here is exactly what Formosa keeps when you join the Studio Diary, why we keep it, and how to have it removed.
Last updated September 10, 2026
What we keep
When you join the Studio Diary we store:
- Your first and last name, and your email address.
- Whether you asked for newsletters and studio announcements.
- The date you joined, the last date you visited, and how many times you have been back.
- Which diary clips you opened, and when.
- Anything you saved with the thumbs-up button, so your own diary page can show it back to you.
That is the whole list. We keep it so Katie can see what people actually enjoy, and so your saved looks are there when you come back.
What we do not keep
- No IP addresses. We do not record them and we do not look them up.
- No location. Not your city, not your area, nothing derived from where you connect.
- Nothing at all until you confirm. If you never click the link in the confirmation email, the half-finished record is deleted after seven days.
If you set a password
A password is optional. You can use an emailed sign-in link every time instead, and that is the safer of the two.
If you do set one, we never store the password itself. What we store is a one-way hash of it, using the same method WordPress uses. Nobody at Formosa can read your password, and neither can we.
You can only set a password after your email has been confirmed, so there is never a password sitting against an address nobody has proven.
Sign-in links expire after 15 minutes and work once. Password reset links expire after an hour and also work once. After five wrong password attempts the account pauses for 15 minutes.
Staying signed in
When you sign in we set one cookie so the site remembers you on your next visit. It holds your member number and a signature that proves it has not been tampered with, and nothing else. Scripts running in your browser cannot read it. Signing out clears it.
Emails
If you asked to hear from us, we send the occasional newsletter and studio announcement. Never often, and never anything we would not want to receive ourselves.
Every one has an unsubscribe link at the bottom and it takes one click. Unsubscribing stops the emails and does not close your diary access or delete anything you have saved.
You can also join without newsletters at all. Leave the box unticked when you sign up and you still get the full diary.
Who else sees it
Your details stay with Formosa Hair Studio. We do not sell them, rent them, or pass them to anyone else to market to you.
The practical exceptions are the ordinary ones: the company that hosts this website stores the data on our behalf, and if we use an email service to send newsletters, your name and address sit there so the emails can go out. Those companies work for us and do not get to use your details for anything of their own.
Having your details removed
Ask, and we will do it. Email or text the studio and say you would like your Formosa diary account removed. It happens the same day, and there is no waiting period.
Here is exactly what that does, because the detail matters. Your name, your email address and your password are deleted outright. What is left is a numbered record with no person attached to it — the clips that were opened and the items that were saved stay in the totals, so Katie can still see what the diary as a whole is doing.
We keep nothing anywhere that turns that number back into you. You cannot be identified from it, we cannot re-link it, and you will never hear from us again unless you sign up afresh.
If you would rather the numbered record went too, say so when you ask and we will delete the row entirely.
Questions
Text or call the studio on (814) 873-9434, or ask Katie next time you are in the chair. If something here is unclear, that is our problem to fix, not yours to decipher.
This page describes how the Studio Diary sign-up on this website works. It is not a substitute for legal advice, and it does not cover the separate booking system, which is run by our booking provider under their own terms.
